Band of the Week: Need New Body
This week’s featured band is Need New Body. Difficult to define, eccentric to experience, and a sensory overload: For the sake of your dancing shoes, love of explosive beats, and to recall why you love music – Need New Body is an important outfit for this day of the musically redundant, mundane and regurgitated. Need New Body is widely known for their stunning theatrical live show. They’ve been known for using elaborate costumes, irregular instrumentation, one-of-a-kind merchandise sold exclusively at their concerts, and a fire-like performance. The only way to engulf onesself into the phenomenon is to be there. You’d be hard pressed to find a band more unnerving. The Philadelphia group, risen from the ruins of Bent Leg Fatima, is about as unpredictable as they come. They smash organ, drums, sax, bass, pots and pans, banjos, fractious shards of out-jazz, funk, gibber gabber and derelict cabaret into a wicked hurdy gurdy.
